What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy has become increasingly popular, although, many people still misunderstand what homeopathy is or how it works. The confusion is largely because modern science doesn’t have the capability to properly analyze homeopathic remedies and their methods of measurement differ from those used by homeopaths.

So, just what is Homeopathy?

It’s a flexible system of holistic medicine that can be used by lay people and medical professionals alike. Homeopathy treats the individual with a safe, effective, and non-toxic method of therapy. Primarily, homeopathy uses small doses of natural substances derived from plant, mineral, and animal sources. Although, sometimes remedies are created from diseased tissues (nosodes) or healthy tissues (sarcodes).

Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician who founded homeopathy and elaborated on a therapeutic science based on curing with similars. The Law of Similars (or “like cures like”) is a principle states that, properly employed, a substance that produces similar symptoms of a disease in healthy people can be used to cure that same disease.

The process of using a harmful substance to effect a cure is called isopathy. This is frequently employed in homeopathy. Homeopathy can also be used to prevent contagious diseases. For instance, the use of homeopathic prophylaxis in the 19th century against small pox outbreaks is well-documented.

Homeopathic remedies are easy and safe to use. Minor ailments can be successfully treated in the home using homeopathy by people who are not trained homeopaths. For example, allergies, colds, flu, accumulation of toxins in the system, fatigue, headaches and other common conditions can be effectively used by people who have only a basic knowledge or homeopathy.

Homeopathy is a holistic form of medicine, involving the emotional and physical traits of the individual person. It differs from allopathic medicine wherein treatment may be the same for everyone. For example, an allopathic doctor may give two people with stomach flu the exact same medicine. But, in homeopathy the remedy would be chosen to match the exact symptoms, therefore, each individual may receive a slightly different remedy.

Homeopathy can be very effective in helping a wide range of problems. It is commonly used for the treatment of acute illnesses such as ear infections, coughs and fevers. It can also be helpful in treating chronic illnesses such as arthritis, and digestive problems. Psychological problems like anxiety, depression, attention problems, and phobias can also be treated with homeopathy

Homeopathic remedies are exceptionally safe and side effects are rare. Some of the most noted remedies are for chronic fatigue, asthma, warts, with bronchitis, bladder infections, fibromyalgia, eczema, herpes, vertigo, and ADHD to name a few.

Usually, ingredients used in homeopathic remedies come from animal, mineral or plant sources. They are diluted in a specific way and potentized by a process called succussion.

Because of the way homeopathic remedies are made, they are quick and effective, but negative side effects and mild and almost non-existent. By consuming the diluted mixture of ingredient substances and distilled water, the healing properties are available without actually ingesting the ingredients.

Homeopathy can benefit people of all ages and treat the full range of human disease conditions. Homeopathy can also be beneficial to your pets and even your garden.
