Window to Your Health: Iridology Studies the Iris of the Eye

The beautiful colored part of the eye is the iris, its markings identify you as an individual much the same way as a fingerprint. Every iris is unique. You may be interested in learning about studying the iris just for the fun of seeing the different colors and patterns or you may be interested in becoming an iridologist.

iridology is primarily a method of determining health imbalances in the body that may contribute to current conditions of ill health or lead to future ones. By having a brief look into the iris, an iridologist can suggest dietary or lifestyle changes, thus allowing people to lead healthier lives.

Before you begin to explore the iris you will need to practice a few simple skills.  If you already have an alternative health practice into which you can incorporate your studies or if you have a few friends who are willing to help you by allowing you to study their eyes, this will be beneficial. In order to become proficient, you will need to dedicate yourself to the study of iridology and to studying as many sets of actual eyes as you possibly can.

iridology is a more accepted practice in Great Britain and, generally speaking, iridology training lasts longer and goes into greater depth than it does in the United States. If you wish to become professionally certified, there are different programs to choose from. Some of these programs are offered through accredited colleges and universities while others are offered by specialized certification programs.

Iridology is both a science and an art. But, you must master the science before you can begin to apply your intuition to it.

Studying photos of the eye and comparing them to an iris “map” or chart will help you to recognize the many meridians of the iris and how they correlate with the different parts of the body.

When studying the iris chart, view it as if it were a clock. Begin at 12 o’clock and move around the chart clockwise. Familiarize yourself with the iris and how it relates to the units of the body, organs and glands. Using this method will serve as a guide to locating the organs, glands and other body parts on the chart. For example, the lungs are located on the iris ìmapî between two and three oíclock on the left eye and between nine and ten oíclock on the right eye.

Study both the right and left eye. The iris of a right-handed person could possibly show more signs of physical problems appearing in the right eye, the same is true for the markings in the left eye of a left-handed person.

Iridology: Understand the Connection Between Health and Eye Color

There are various colors, spots and streaks on the iris that signify specific health concerns. The tone and range of color shows the degree of inefficiency in the health of the tissues or organs.

White-patches or white-fog may show the body is fighting to remove waste and restore balance or it may reveal an imbalance of phosphorus, calcium and magnesium together with vitamins A, D and C.

Reddish-brown or grey-brown may show a heavy overload or possible destruction of tissue.

Brown patches, streaks and fogs may show a lack of iron and vitamin C or it could mean that there is just a lot of junk in the kidneys. Having this knowledge would allow the patient to consult their neuropath for the best vitamins, mineral supplements or herbal teas to clear up their kidneys.

Black streaks or holes show tissue destruction, damage or removal. For example, immediately after any surgery, a black, diamond-shaped hole will appear in the iris at the point where the tissue was damaged or removed. An extracted tooth can leave a deep ìblack holeî in the iris thus revealing that anytime live tissue is removed or damaged the shock to the body will be registered in the iris.
